A new installment of the IMS’s provocative online publication is out!
“Music, War, and Other Conflicts”
For the concluding issue of their tenure as editors-in-chief of Musicological Brainfood, Gavin S. K. Lee and Melanie Plesch invited seven scholars to examine the topic of “Music, War, and Other Conflicts.” Working from a common set of six prompts, authors explored questions spanning sonic agency and resistance, cultural boycott, digital mediation, memory, and collective healing. Their responses have been organized into four interconnected articles examining music’s agency within conflict; music as resistance; the ethical and digital mediation of war through sound; and the role of music in memory and community resilience.
