SG “History of the IMS”

The next meeting of the IMS Study Group “History of the IMS” will be held online on 26 November 2025 from 17:00 to 19:00 CET. The meeting will be dedicated to the seventieth anniversary of Jacques Handschin’s death (he passed away on 25 November 1955) and features three presenters:

• Anna Maria Busse Berger (California), “How Manfred Bukofzer and Jacques Handschin Undermined the Main Presuppositions of Comparative Musicology”
• Franz Michael Maier (Berlin & Greenville), “Handschin, Kurth und das Verhältnis von Ganzem und Teil”
• Jeanna Kniazeva (St. Petersburg), “Aus der Adressensammlung von Jacques Handschin: Paul-Marie Masson, André Schaeffner”

After a discussion and update on the SG’s activities, the meeting will end at 19:00 CET.
